On behalf of the Diversity in Sport Conference planning committee and AASP Diversity Committee, we are pleased to announce the 2020 IGNITE Program. The Ignite Program will occur the morning of April 3rd, 2020 in advance of the annual Diversity in Sport Conference being held at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Ignite Program brings together a diversity of speakers from the sport industry offering diverse students and early career professionals of color (LGBTQQI, race, ethnicity, class, gender, ability, and religion) with a personal and professional development experience that will enhance their careers in sport and sport psychology. Attendees can expect the following:
- Develop and hone leadership skills.
- Discuss career goals and learn about ways to increase professional opportunities.
- Network with leaders in sport.
- Build a supportive network of diverse professionals in sport.
- Learn and build skills for navigating the sport profession.
Eligible applicants must identify as a racial and/or ethnic minority.
Must be currently enrolled full time in a Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Sports Science program or a closely related major; or are 1-2 years post graduation.
Career aspirations include research or practice such as clinical practice, consultation, academia, and leadership positions in sport.
